Thomas W. Thurman
Thomas W. Thurman, 97, widower of Ella Mae Thurman, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 24, 2024 at his home with his family at his side. He was the son of the late Robert M. and Mary Shifflett Thurman. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Gertrude, Bessie, Christine, and Bobby; as well as a great-grandson, Brice Thurman.
Thomas was a proud WWII veteran of the United States Army and then spent his career as a mechanic and truck driver. He was a long-time member of Fellowship Baptist Church and more recently, Clearbrook Baptist Church.
He will be missed and remembered by his children, Joyce “Joy” Thurman, Sandy Thurman Myers (Kenneth), Thomas Lee Thurman, Kathy Thurman Padgett; grandchildren, Brian and Angie Thurman, Dawn and Phillip Hypes, Bradley and Elizabeth Thurman, Kevin Myers, Jason Myers, Kara Padgett Compton (Robert), Isaac Padgett (Hali); great-grandchildren, Jakob Hypes, Hanah Thurman, Kameron Hypes, Carter Thurman, Julian Myers, Miley Taylor, Aiden Myers, Tyler Thurman, Katherine Thurman, Adalyn Compton, Aria Compton, Evelyn Padgett; great-great-granddaughter, Lakyn Thurman; brother, Wayne Daniel Thurman; along with several nieces and nephews; close family friend, Samantha Byers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 28, 2024 in the Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Ratliff officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service beginning at 12 noon. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
