Timothy "Tim" John Heath

January 21, 1975 - April 22, 2025

Timothy John “Tim” Heath, 50 of Salem, gained his wings, parting his earthly home for Heaven, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, after a long courageous fight with Melanoma.

Tim was born on January 21, 1975, son of John and Yvonne Heath. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, proudly serving for 4 years before being honorably discharged. His time spent in the Corps taught him to be very detailed completing every task or mission with no less than 100% perfection. He carried this on as a civilian and every task was completed with a smile. Tim was employed with Elbit Systems of America, formerly ITT, of Roanoke, faithfully dedicating 21 years of service. His attention to detail and tremendous work ethic was demonstrated over this span of time, as he successfully climbed from the production line to the top, most recently holding the title of Manufacturing Analyst. His coworkers said it best when stating “Tim was known for having a free spirit with a kind demeanor. No matter the circumstances or challenges he faced, he always confronted them with positivity and a smile”. (Company Newsletter)

During his free time, Tim enjoyed riding his beloved Harley. He, along with friends, spent numerous hours and placed thousands of miles riding across the country, collecting t-shirts from the Harley Davidson Stores in 50 of 52 states. He was also well known for the joy he had flying and operating the numerous remote-controlled planes and boats he owned.

To those who knew him best, Tim was a friend that would go lengths to help another in need, but above all, he will be remembered for the love he had for family and friends alike.

Tim was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harmon and Ellen Heath (paternal), and Swanson and Sadie Bowman (maternal).

Family remaining to cherish his memory includes his parents, John and Yvonne Heath; his loving wife, Donna Ruble Heath; stepchildren, Brittany Parrish (Zach), and Ryan Parrish (Ashley); sister, Wendy Heath; grandchildren, Mia Sanford, Kyler Downs, and Kayson Parrish; nieces and nephews, Benjamin, Rosemary, Caroline, and John; and a special neighbor, Adam.

The family wishes to offer a special thanks to Tim’s friends of Elbit Systems of America, Carilion Health Systems, his neighbors, and to Dr. Mark Witcher, for all the support given during Tim’s journey.

The family will receive friends for a time of fellowship on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 1 until 3 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, in Salem. A life celebration will begin directly after, starting at 3 p.m. in the funeral homes chapel, where military rights will be rendered by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard.
