Timothy Wade Bailey
TIMOTHY WADE BAILEY, age 81, of Pinch Creek, Bland, Virginia, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024. Born on July 14, 1943, in Bastian, Virginia, he was the son of the late William Burke Bailey and Alma Kidd Bailey. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Linda Clark Bailey, and his brother, Doug Bailey.
Timothy was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Army. He dedicated much of his career to the coal industry, working tirelessly to support his family. Outside of work, he had a deep love for old cars, fishing, music, NASCAR, and sports like football and baseball. Timothy was known for his relaxed, laid-back lifestyle, often spending hours in the garage or enjoying a peaceful afternoon on the swing or the back porch.
A resident of Pinch Creek, Timothy often referred to his home as "the greatest place in the world" and was affectionately known as the "Mayor of Pinch Creek." He was a man who never met a stranger, with friends in every corner of his community. His positive outlook on life was contagious, and he rarely complained about anything. When asked how he was feeling, his favorite response was always, "Tim Terrific."
Timothy's greatest joy was his family. Whether it was calling them on "Fired Up Fridays," sharing meals, or simply offering advice, he cherished every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. His infectious smile, warm hugs, and simple words of wisdom will be missed by all who knew him. His famous parting phrase, "Love ya, see ya, bye," will forever echo in the hearts of his loved ones.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Sherry and husband Joe Lechaton of La Grange, KY; Duane and wife Brenda Bailey of Bland, VA; Darren and wife Cindy Bailey of Cicero, IN; his grandchildren, Austin and wife Summer Lechaton of Louisville, KY; Garrett Bailey of Spence, NC; Heather and husband Joseph Morin of Johnson City, TN; Brianna Bailey of Cicero, IN; and Nicholas Bailey of Bland, VA; and his great-granddaughter, Josie C. Lechaton of Louisville, KY.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at the Wilderness Lighthouse, Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Hollybrook, VA, with Pastor Joey Hall officiating. Burial will follow at the Clark Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 AM until service time, 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Tim’s honor to a charity of your choice.
