Trula Mae Bailey Collins

Trula Mae Bailey Collins, 86, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Sovah Health–Martinsville.

Born on December 20, 1939, in Panther, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Chapman Bailey and Bertha Mae Street Bailey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dewey Lee Collins; her seven brothers, Earl Bailey, Harry Bailey, Cloyde Bailey, Dewey Bailey, Ken Bailey, Jim Bailey, and Carl Bailey; and her two sisters, Edker Lockhart and Eliza Reid. With their passing, Trula Mae became the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Trula Mae was of the Baptist faith. She worked for many years as a knitter, dedicating herself to her craft with pride and diligence. Outside of work, she found joy in tending her garden, where her green thumb was evident to all who knew her. She also held a special place in her heart for her beloved home state of West Virginia.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Brian Lee Collins and his wife, Genia; her daughter, Teresa Mae Collins; one grandson; one granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews, and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor John Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville, Virginia.

Trula Mae will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her hardworking spirit, and the love she shared with her family. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
