Valerie Josephine Marshall

Valerie Josephine Marshall, 95, of Ridgeway, Virginia passed away at her home surrounded by her children on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. She was born December 9, 1928, in Madison, North Carolina to the late Jerry C. Adkins and Destie H. Smith Adkins.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Donna Alvey, Gloria Marshall; a daughter in law, Karen Marshall; sister, Dorothy Nance.Valerie was of the Baptist faith. She was a bookkeeper for fifty years and finished her career with Urban Ministries in Greensboro, North Carolina at the age of 87. Valerie was valedictorian of her high school graduating class in 1946. She was a funny and kind person and was an accomplished pianist and vocalist. Valerie loved to travel and have adventures and was a great shopper, especially at the outlet malls.She is survived by her son; Jerry Marshall; son-in-law, Sonny Alvey; daughters, Sharon Smith, Judy Epling (Jerry), Debbie Clark (Roy); thirteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren.A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Horsepasture Christian Church with Pastor Greg Sexton officiating.The family would like to extend our gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice for their exceptional care of our dear MumVee.
