Vera "Granny Vera" Thompson

Vera "Granny Vera" Thompson, 89, of Ferrum, VA passed away Monday, April 1, 2019. She was born June 2, 1929 the daughter of the late Abe Handy and Lera Radford Handy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert "Tom" Davis Thompson; her son, Terry (Mountain) Thompson; brother, Abe "Bucky" Handy, Jr.; grandson, Gary Lee Yearout, Jr. Surviving are her two daughters, Sue Yearout (Gary), Linda Morton (Barry); four grandchildren, Beth (Todd), Bruce (Amara), Jonathan, T. J.; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter, Ava; three sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with Rev. Calvin Hickson and Chaplain Rick Polland officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday starting at 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home.
