Vincent Reynolds Shorter

Vincent Reynolds Shorter, 83 passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. He was born August 14, 1940 in the Sago community of Pittsylvania County to the late John Britton Shorter and Elsie Adkins Shorter. He is survived by his wife Darlene Daniel Shorter of the residence, his daughter, Ginger Shorter Bennett (Rob) of Apex, NC, his sons Vincent Edward Shorter and John Morris Shorter (Lisa) of Chatham. He also survived by his grandchildren Alex, Morgan and Jake, his brother Julian Neff Shorter of Kingman, AZ as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He is pre-deceased by his sisters Ivelle S. Saunders and Nancy S. West as well as his brothers S.A. “Bud” Shorter, John B. Shorter Jr., Bobby Shorter, Jim Shorter and Tom Shorter.

Vincent owned and operated Vincent Shorter’s Garage in Chatham for 47 years. He had many loyal customers who became dear friends. Many stories have been told around the stove in the shop. He loved his family very much and was a kind and caring father, grandfather, uncle and friend to so many. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 11:00 am at Norris Chatham Chapel, 147 South Main Street, Chatham, VA 24531, with Elder Matthew Evans officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Burial Park, Chatham, VA. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 7-8:30pm at Norris Chatham Chapel, 147 South Main Street, Chatham, VA 24531.
