Viola Hamlett
Viola Hamlett, 69, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at her home. She was born October 13, 1956, in South Boston, Virginia, to the late Robert Hamlett and Ada Lee Childs Hamlett.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Hallie Bell Hamlett; and brothers, Thomas Hamlett, Daniel Hamlett, Charles Hamlett, Robert Hamlett, and Samuel Hamlett.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed football, fishing, and participating in football pools. She was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan and also loved playing cards. She had a wonderful sense of style and especially enjoyed clothes and sunglasses, proudly building quite a collection over the years. Known for being the life of the party, she brought energy and personality wherever she went. She was never afraid to speak her mind and was known for being strong-willed and opinionated. Above all, she was loved by many, and her vibrant personality and unforgettable presence will be deeply missed.
She is survived by one daughter, Shelley Hamlett; two sons, Tommie Lee Hamlett and Quinton Hamlett (Africa); 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; special friend, Nehemiah King; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 2:30 PM at Wright Funeral Service – Martinsville Chapel. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the home, 230 Terrace Garden Dr. Apt #1, Collinsville, Virginia 24078.
