Virginia Catherine Graham Wingate

Virginia Catherine Graham Wingate, 94, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away on

Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Carillon Franklin Memorial Hospital. She was born

on May 30, 1930, in Henry County to the late Cabell Samuel Graham and Ruby

Catherine Freeman Graham. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death

by her maternal grandparents, Samuel and Agnes Joyce Freeman; paternal grandparents,

Samuel and Dora Mize Graham; brother, James Russell Graham; sister-in-law, Louise

Stovall Graham; nephew, James Albert Crigger, Sr.; friend and companion, William

Henry (Bill) Hill of Stanleytown.

Virginia was a member of Collinsville Baptist Church. She graduated from Fieldale

High School and attended Peary Business School. After many years of service, she

retired from Fieldcrest Mills in Fieldale.

Virginia loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her extended family. She enjoyed

decorating, working crossword puzzles, listening to music, and visiting friends and

neighbors.

Those left to cherish her memories are two special adopted daughters, Helen Boyd

(Dean) and Jessica Whalen (Chris) and adored grandchildren, Serenity Whalen and

Gabe Whalen of Martinsville; dearest step relatives, Virginia Ann Dudley (Allen) of

Rocky Mount, Darla Crigger of Martinsville, Rebecca Sue Gilbert (Maddie) of

Gloucester; special friend and hairdresser, Shanna Smith; beloved Carolinians, Jack and

Linda Fowler Davis of Dobson, North Carolina; several cousins and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at

Norris Funeral Service with funeral to follow the visitation at 10:00 a.m. Reverend

Payton Gilbert will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial

Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Collinsville Baptist Church, 670 Daniels

Creek Road, Collinsville, VA 24078.
