Virginia Ferguson

Virginia Shumate Ferguson, 93, passed away on September 12, 2024, at Sovah Health of Martinsville. She was born in Wilkes County, N.C. on March 26, 1931, to the late Ivory E. Shumate and Dora Adams Shumate.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Everett Ray Ferguson; brother, Charlie M. Shumate; and sister, Mildred H. Tuggle.

Surviving are sisters, Sinia S. Hutcherson and Belva S. Clay; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Virginia graduated from Martinsville High School in 1950. She was an active member of Chatham Heights United Methodist Church since 1964. She was employed in the local automotive business for many years.

A funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Tim Hunt will be officiating the service. Burial will follow the funeral service at Roselawn Burial Park.
