Virginia Leake Yarbrough

Virginia Ray Leake Yarbrough, 89, of Ridgeway, Va. (Horsepasture Community), passed away Sunday, September 1, 2024. She was born September 18, 1934 to the late Ned D. Leake and Mildred Kellam Leake. The name “Ray” was given to her in honor of her grandfather, Ray Kellam.On May 8, 1954, she married Jesse Daniel Yarbrough. They were together 56 happy years until his passing in October 22, 2009.She is survived by a son, Jesse Daniel “Danny” Yarbrough, Jr. and wife, Donna of Stoneville, N.C. many nieces, nephews, cousins and very dear friends.She was a 1952 graduate of Spencer Penn High School and attended Perry Business School. She was employed as a bookkeeper at several places.Virginia was a longtime member of Horsepasture Christian Church. There she was a member of Class 7 Sunday School class, where she served as President several times. She was a member of the Horsepasture Ruritan Club. She was also a Lifetime member of the Patrick Henry Amateur Radio Club. Her call sign was KE4JEC.A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at McKee-Stone Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 6, 2024 at McKee Stone Funeral Home and will be officiated Rev. Jennie Leake Hemrick.
