Walter Brown Spinner

Walter Brown Spinner, Jr., age 72, of 1016 Rose Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Saturday, August 19, 2023 at The Woodlands Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clifton Forge.
Walter was born October 23, 1950 in Clifton Forge to the late Walter Brown Spinner, Sr. and Nora Hickenbotham Spinner. He served three years in the United States Army and also in the U. S. Army Reserves for a number of years. He was a retired janitor for Kmart in Covington, and also worked for Catawba Hospital and the former Liberty House Nursing Home. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Clifton Forge, where he sang in the choir, served as a former trustee, and performed janitorial duties. He loved old cars and model cars, and was also a NASCAR fan. He enjoyed music and dancing, football, and helping children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Calvin “Tree” Spinner and a sister, Nora Christian.
He is survived by a son, Kyle Woodard of Clifton Forge; eight sisters and brothers, Virginia (Curtis) Beverly of Clifton Forge, Lorraine Spinner Howard of Clifton Forge, Laura (Charles) Scott of Chesapeake, Cynthia (Bruce) Godfrey of Clifton Forge, Dean Spinner of Clifton Forge, Jean (Arthur) Godfrey of Clifton Forge, Cindy Spinner of Clifton Forge, and Elmingo Spinner of Clifton Forge; a number of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Cassandra “Cassy” Scott; as well as several cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the church.
