Walter Don Reese

Walter Don Reese, 93 of Salem, VA passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Born Thursday, May 8, 1930, to the late Buren A. Reese, Sr, and Bertie Showalter Reese in Welch, WV.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Ann Wilson Reese; siblings, Buren A. Reese, Shirley A. Hale, Garland L. Reese, Ralph L. Reese, and George W. Reese.

Don served 20 years in the United States Air Force retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant and another 20 years at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Salem, VA.

Those left to cherish in his memory include his sons, David A. Reese and his wife, Sandy, and Neal A. Reese and his wife, Penny; sister, Wilma R. Bare; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to the wonderful nurses and staff at the Virginia Veterans Care Center for taking care of Don like family.

The family will welcome friends for a time of visitation on Thursday, May 2, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Funeral Home in Salem.

A graveside service to honor Walter's life will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park with Pastor Bryan Buckles officiating.
