Walter Harold Brown

Walter Harold Brown, 92, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at his residence. He was born July 30, 1931, in Wythe County, Virginia, to the late Walter Thomas Brown and Nannie Louise Funk Brown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Mary Ruth Prater Brown; four sisters; and four brothers.

Walter was of the Pentecostal faith and a member of the Church of God. He was a minister and served as a Bishop in the Church of God for more than forty years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Nearest to his heart were his grandchildren who he loved very much.

He is survived by daughter, Julia Brown Foley (Frankie); son, John H. Brown (Jann); grandchildren, Stephanie W. Lewis (Lee), Jordan F. Cunningham (Kyle), Tre’ Foley (Maci), Adam Brown (Chelsi) and Andrew Michael Brown (Tara); great grandchildren; Charlee R Lewis, Emery J. Cunningham, Evelyn W. Cunningham, Sydney Brown, Harrison R. Brown, Emelia Brown, Maelynn Foley, and Jax Foley.

The funeral will be Sunday, January 14, 2024, at 6:00 PM, at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Dale Dyer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Roselawn Memorial Park with minister Dwayne Pruitt officiating.

The family will receive guests and friends at other times at the home of the daughter, Julia Foley, 269 Ramble Road, Collinsville, Virginia, 24078.
