Walter Herbert Hodges

Walter Herbert Hodges, 85, passed away on August 19, 2023. He was born in Rocky Mount VA, on January 6, 1938 to the late Lucy Ida Chitwood Hodges and the late Charlie Jefferson Hodges. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mrs. Martha Sink Hodges.

Walter worked for many years as the owner operator of Hodges Tire Company. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. He also was a very active member in both the Improved Order of Red Men, Poquoson Tribe #124 and the Elk’s Lodge #277. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren especially taking them to ballgames and track meets. He also had a special love for fishing.

In addition to his loving wife, he is also survived by two sons; Billy Hodges (Marcie) of Dry Fork, VA and Frank Hodges (Shelley) of Milton, FL; a daughter; Amy Wallace (Michael) of Danville, VA; a brother; Junior Hodges; a sister; Margie Freeman; six grandchildren; Cliff Hodges, Kasey Wallace, Kelsey Hodges, Kaylee Hodges, Abby Wallace, and Emily Wallace; and 7 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Walter was predeceased by a grand daughter; Brittany Brideson and 11 brothers and sisters.
