Walter Wayne Myers
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wayne Myers, who left us on February 28, 2025 at the age of 86. He was a beloved husband, father and Pawpo and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Born in Roanoke, VA on March 30, 1938, Wayne lived a life full of kindness and gentleness; he was one of the “good ones”. He dedicated his life to his family, his 40-year career at General Electric, and his beloved sports teams: the VT Hokies and Boston Red Sox (he even made it to Fenway with his son and grandson). Wayne was known for his care of others, his relentless pursuit of a good sale, his large garden and sharing that bounty with friends and family. He always knew someone everywhere he went.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 65 years, Charlotte (Lovern), his daughter Christie, his son Michael (Kary) and his grandchildren Owen, Cate, and Harper Myers. He is also survived by his brother Greg (Nancy). Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Walter Algie and Hessie Ann Myers as well as his brother Dwight.
Visiting hours for Wayne will be held on Sunday, March 9 from 6-8PM at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem, VA. A service to honor and celebrate Wayne’s life will be held on Monday, March 10 at 2:00PM in the Chapel at Lotz. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in his memory.
