Watson Frank Rogers

May 26, 1971 - January 21, 2024

Our beloved Watson Frank Rogers II, at 52, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024. Born on Wednesday, May 26, 1971, to Frank Matthew Rogers and Huong Tran Rogers in Parkersburg, West Virginia.

More than anything in this world Watson prioritized his family and friends above all else. In addition to his love of his family and friends, he loved food, especially tacos and his mom’s egg rolls. Words cannot describe how extraordinary of a husband, father, brother, uncle, coworker, and friend he truly was. He was a lifelong learner who was devoted to Virginia Tech, regardless of how hard it was to be a fan at times. Watson’s favorite place was a cruise ship somewhere warm where he would read his favorite books about fantastical characters and spend time with his family. When he wasn’t traveling, he loved being at home, playing games with his two younger brothers and children, and sneaking treats to his dog, Petunia. Watson had a tight-knit group of best friends that have stayed close through adulthood, despite the distance. He had the joy of exploring new cities, attending concerts, watching football, listening to all types of music, and attending Atlanta Braves games.

Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Frank Matthew Rogers and Huong Tran Rogers; wife, Michelle Rogers; daughter, Genevieve Rogers; son, Ethan Rogers; brothers, Michael (Rose) Rogers and Shawn (Heather) Rogers; nephew and nieces, Owen, Ellie, and Brooklyn. Watson was preceded in death by his grandparents Watson Frank Rogers I and Marguerite M. Cole Rogers; aunts, Sybil Rogers and Donna Rogers; uncle, Pete (Joyce) Rogers.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, with Pastors Matt and Cathy Stengel.

Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service in the funeral home's chapel.
