Wendy Smith Nash

April 9, 1961 - January 25, 2024

Wendy Smith Nash, 62, of South Hill, VA, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, January 25, 2024 surrounded by her husband and children.

Wendy was born in Caswell County, NC on April 9, 1961 to the late Charles Elwood Stokes and the late Juanita Brown Stokes. In addition to her loving parents, Wendy was predeceased by her brother, Charles Michael Stokes.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Gregory Nash; son, Aaron Smith (Dana); daughter, Beth Russell (TJ); grandchildren, Trey, Gracie, and Cassidy; lifelong best friend Falina Long; father figure, Garrett Custer; dogs Chloe and Benji; cat, Mia; and bird, Pepper.

Wendy was a 1978 graduate of George Washington High School in Danville, VA, and she went on to earn two Associate's degrees from Southside Virginia Community College in 1991. She loved feeding the birds at her home, tending her flower beds, watching Andy Griffith, and being the best Mama and Memaw she could be. She was a devoted mother whose sacrifices ensured the success of her children; she was a proud Memaw who loved spending summers with her grandbabies taking them on trips. Wendy was a firecracker who never let anyone wonder where they stood. She was fiercely loyal, outspoken, and real. Although she leaves a hole in the lives of those who knew and loved her, she leaves a legacy of love, memories, and lessons. The joy of her life will never fade.

A graveside service will be held at Danville Memorial Gardens at 2 PM on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Glioblastoma Foundation at www.glioblastomafoundation.org.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Neurology Critical Care Unit and the Palliative Care Unit at VCU Richmond. Without their dedication, patience, and love, the family would never have made it through this difficult time.
