William "Bill" Dale Collins

June 10, 1940 - August 11, 2024

With profound sorrow, we announce that William Dale “Bill” Collins, 84, died unexpectedly Sunday, August 11th, 2024, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born June 10th, 1940, in Columbia, Missouri, the son of Glen C. and Anna L. Collins. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ivan, John, Gene, Donnie; his sister, Mary; and his wife, Joyce. Bill graduated from Hickman High School, class of 1958. Following graduation Bill studied at Texas Christian University, followed by Pace University in New York. Bill was also a Sargent in the Army Reserves. Bill’s career started on the New York Stock Exchange as an Examiner. Later he was invited to join two different stock brokerage firms in San Francisco as their Controller and then as Compliance officer. He also lived in Hanoi, Vietnam where he helped open trade with America. Bill was an active member of Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, serving as Sunday School teacher for the Vintage Class. Bill enjoyed traveling to spend time with his family, riding motorcycles, skiing, golfing, riding horses, and cooking family recipes. He found great joy spending time with his pets, and his passion for learning and playing the fiddle stuck with him throughout his life. Bill’s legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts and minds of those fortunate to have spent time with him. Bill was an attentive and empathetic listener. His warm personality, kindness, and curiosity made everyone he met feel special. He is survived by his brother, Mike and his wife Mindy; his beloved Debbie; two wives, Nancy and Kathy, and their sons. Bill and Nancy have one son: Tim. Bill and Kathy have two sons: Jeff and Ryan. Bill is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church with Rev. Will Waller officiating. A reception will follow in the church atrium.
