William "Bill" E. Colvin
William E. “Bill” Colvin, 90, passed away peacefully at his home September 3, 2024, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born in Culpeper, Va., June 21, 1934, a son of Haywood Howard Colvin and Susie Carolyn Carter Colvin. Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Col. Thomas E. Colvin and his wife of 63 years, Helen Rae Dunn Colvin.
Bill graduated from Culpeper High School and Fork Union Military Academy before entering VMI in 1954. Later he went to PHCC earning an Associate degree in Business Administration. Bill served many years in the Army Reserves and was a proud member of the Virginia Society, Sons of the American Revolution.
Bill retired as a Purchasing Agent at Tultex, quickly getting bored with retirement, he took a position of Purchasing Agent at Jacuzzi in Roanoke, Virginia. After his final retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife in the States and Europe, cruising, golfing, and playing cards with friends. Bill was also an avid Washington Commanders Football Fan. He was a tireless worker at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church, where he also sang in the choir.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Vivian (Kathy), Greg (Melanie), Jeff (Kristen) and his fur baby, Bandit. He has five grandchildren, Farren, Carolyn, Melissa, Jordan Rae and “Mickey”. Also surviving are two nieces, Patsy Colvin and Lucy Helvey, many grand nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Brenda Elliott.
Services will be Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Norris Funeral Home at 2:00pm with a visitation prior starting at 1:00pm. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Cheryl Peeples, Pastor of Forest Hills Presbyterian Church.
