William "Bill" Joseph Edwards
William Joseph “Bill” Edwards, 60, of Durham, North Carolina, passed away at his home Friday, March 7, 2025. He was born October 9, 1964, in Alva, Oklahoma, to the late Robert Newton Edwards and Nancy Bonita Kuykendall Edwards.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert “Jeffrey” Edwards.
William proudly served in the United States Army. Those who knew and loved William called him Bill and will remember him for his unmatched kindness. His heart of gold not only guided his daily decisions, but the world was truly impacted by his tender heart. One of the ways Bill expressed love for people was through preparing meals for them. He enjoyed the culinary arts and pleasing the pallets of others; this led to a fulfilling career in food service. He was the proud owner of the very successful Wild Bill’s BBQ. Bill spent many years developing great woodworking skills. His experience traveling with bands and doing shows allowed him to showcase these skills in a myriad of ways. He loved playing the guitar and drums. He also had a passion for cosmetology and was proud of his reputation for giving the best haircuts around. Not only was he a loyal friend to those with whom he crossed paths, but his gentle demeanor spilled over to the many animals which reciprocated the love he gave them. He often went hiking with one of his dearest friends, Kayla, as they talked and solved the world’s problems. Although his physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us.
He is survived by his brothers, James Edwards (Bryanna), and Michael Edwards; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends; and special friends, Vicky Miller, Kayla Miller, and Alex Miller.
All services will be private.
