William "Bill" L. Harris
William L. “Bill” Harris, 95 years old, of Collinsville, VA went to be in the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 27, 2024, surrounded by his family.He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Shirley Harris. Also preceding him in death were his parents, James Arthur Harris, and Bealie Holley Harris; his brothers, Albert Harris, Robert Harris, and Sam Harris; and his sisters, Dora Cartee, Mattie Williams, and Annie Pearson.William L. Harris served in the United States Army from 1947-1951 with honorable discharge and was employed by Fieldcrest Mills for many years before retiring.He was a faithful member of Victory Christian Center in Collinsville where he taught Sunday School and served as a deacon and usher. He dearly loved his church family and sitting under the ministry of his Pastor and dear friend, Janet McGhee.There aren’t enough words to describe what a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather he was. His deep and faithful love for Jesus has inspired and taught his family how loving and serving Jesus could change their lives. His life and how he lived for God was his ultimate testimony.Left to cherish so many precious memories is his daughter, Sharon Hammock of Collinsville, VA; sons, Ken Harris (Iris) of Alexandria, VA and William “David” Harris of Collinsville, VA; his grandchildren, Tiffany Hammock of Collinsville, VA, and Derrick Hammock (Britney) of Collinsville, VA, and Jacob Harris and Zachary Harris both of Alexandria, VA. He has five great-grandchildren, Nicholas Hammock, Will Hammock, Lucas Hatly, Anniston Hammock, and Cora Hammock.Services will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Norris Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Janet McGhee officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Norris Funeral Services and other times at the home on Miles Road in Collinsville, VA. Burial will be held at Roselawn Burial Park.The family would like to express sincere thanks to Amedisys Hospice for providing excellent care to William and his family in his final days.Norris Funeral Services, Inc. and Crematory, Martinsville, VA is serving the Harris family.
