Mr. William Rosser “Bill” Pendleton, age 100, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home due to complications from an accidental fall. He was born in Surry County, July 18, 1924, the son of the late Morris Aldridge and Susie Forbes Pendleton. Mr. Pendleton was retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he was stationed at the Panama Canal. He recently received his 70-year pin from Renfro Masonic Lodge, a proclamation from the City of Mount Airy on his 100th birthday and was a long-time member of the Mount Airy Country Club. He is survived by one daughter, Kathryn “Kitty” Pendleton Martin; two sons, William B. Pendleton (Janice Frye), Benjamin F. Pendleton (Tammy); grandchildren, Emily Shute (Dr. Kevin), Susie Cooke (Brandon), Shelby Heath (Brandon), Benjamin Cook, Josh Cook, Allyson Smith (Larry); great grandchildren, Addison Shute, Everett Shute, Drew Cooke, Conor Cooke, Jessica Cooke, Steele Smith and Shelly Redmond. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Rebecca Anne Beasley Pendleton, sisters, Susan P. Ashby, Rena P. Hollingsworth and Marion Meyer; brothers, Robert Pendleton and Jake Pendleton, and loved as a sister Irene Forbes (Butch) Marion. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, 2:00 PM at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Mount Airy with The Reverend Sarah Morris officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Parrish Hall of Trinity Episcopal Church immediately following the funeral service. A private interment will be held at Oakdale Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff and especially Sheila of Mountain Valley Hospice for the love and care given to Mr. Pendleton during his illness.
