William Bryant Walker
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our father, William Bryant “Pete” Walker on July 27, 2024, at his residence. He was the son of the late Lucy Scott Walker and the late Samuel Walker. He was married to the love of his life, the late Nancy Goard Walker, for 63 years.
He was employed by Dan River Mills for 45 years. After retirement, he delivered medicine for Commonwealth Pharmacy and Walgreen’s for 23 years. He had a love for country music and played bass guitar in the City Limits Band, as well as playing back-up for numerous country music stars. But, most of all, he loved his family above all else. He was of the Christian faith.
He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia W. Saunders and Cathy Womack (Jerome); two sons, Michael A. Walker (Nancy) and Richard L. Walker (Sue); five grandchildren, Brandon Hylton (Cindy), Tracey Yeaman (John), Micah Walker (Sheree), Jennifer A. Womack (Matthew), and Kevin Walker (Laura); 10 great-grandchildren, Rebecca Clifton, Matthew Hylton, Brad Hylton, AJ Hylton, Victoria Hylton, Eva Walker, Emily Walker, Addison Shelton, Mackenzie Walker, and Lily Yeaman. He is also survived by a great-great grandson, Mason Hylton and a very special friend, Nancy Motley.
A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, August 1, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at Danville Memorial Gardens, conducted by his grandson, Micah Walker.
