William Clarence Gardner
William “Bill” Clarence Gardner of Martinsville, VA, passed away on July 12th, 2024. His wife of 57 years, A. Lorraine Gardner, was by his side. He was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Gardner, his father, Elmer T. Gardner, his brother Thomas “Tommy” Gardner, and his sister, Rose (Gardner) Morris.
Bill was born on March 3rd, 1949 in Hampton, Va. He graduated from Hampton High School, class of 1967. He worked as head of real estate assessment for Loudoun County, Va and retired to Martinsville, Va at the age of 55.
He was a lifelong lover of music and played in many bands along the east coast during the 1960’s - 1980’s. He was an avid NASCAR fan, classic car collector/restorer, golfer, and ASPCA volunteer. He loved sipping a cup of coffee while watching “The Three Stooges” with his dogs and cats snuggled next to him.
Bill was a great provider to his family and would do anything for his cats and dogs. His wife loved him so much - he was the one true love of her life. She will even miss fussing at him for not putting the gallon of milk away after he used it!
His passing was unexpected and his family will miss him everyday.
He is survived by his wife, A. Lorraine Gardner, his daughters Tracy (Gardner) Wadsworth and her husband Jim Wadsworth, Elizabeth (Gardner) Sandt and her husband Adam Sandt. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lucas Wadsworth, Jake Wadsworth, Sam Wadsworth, Annabel Wadsworth, Nicholas Wadsworth, Benjamin Dolphin, Adelle Sandt, and great granddaughter Kennedy Wadsworth.
