William Glenn Grey

Mr. William Glenn Grey, age 94, of Ararat, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2024 at Northern Regional Hospital in Mt. Airy.  He was born on September 29, 1929 in Carroll County to the late William Lawrence and Ethel Smith Grey.  Mr. Grey retired as a Saw Operator for the Mt. Airy Furniture Company and proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will surely be missed by all who knew him.  Left to cherish his memory are a daughter, Sandra Knott; granddaughters, Megan Griffin, Jodie Sawyers (Wes); great-grandchildren, William Lyons, Callie Griffin, Gabriel Griffin, Angel Sawyers, Ashtynn Sawyers, Arick Sawyers, Averee Sawyers, and Nash Griffin; sisters, Peggy Scales and Virginia Simicich; brothers, Gary and Donald Grey.  In addition to his parents Mr. Grey was preceded in death by his wife, Oma Hettybell Thomas Grey; sisters, Perney Vernon and Wilma Pittman; brothers, Leon, Pete, and Lyndon Grey.  A graveside service will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at 3:00pm at Crooked Oak Moravian Church Cemetery with service conducted by Pastor Gary Easter.
