William Manion
William Kiernan “Bill” Manion, age 88, of 1963 Crooked Spur Road, Millboro died Sunday, May 19, 2024 at his residence.
Bill was born December 16, 1935 in Washington D. C. to the late Marion and Tina Kok Manion and served as County Administrator for Bath County from February of 1987 to September of 1991. He was a member of the Millboro Water Authority and Millboro Christian Church. He loved to talk with people and never met a stranger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Ann Carder Manion; two sons, Trooper Kevin Manion and William K. “Kary” Manion, Jr.; a granddaughter, Alice Manion; and a brother, Frank Manion.
He is survived by five daughters, Carol Manion and husband, Mike Lawson of Durham N.C., Kim Manion of Millboro, Karen Hobbet and husband, Jeff of Holly Springs N.C., Kristina Manion of Auburn, WA; and Kera Winburn and husband, Charles of Alexandria; four sons, Ken Manion and wife, Deb of Franklinton, N.C., Kendall Manion and wife Jocelyn of Henrico, Keith Manion and wife Angela of Hanover, and Kent Manion and wife Kristina of Geneva, IL.; a daughter-in-law, Mary Manion of Ridgeway; and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 3:00 PM in Millboro Christian Church with Reverend Lloyd Via officiating. Interment will follow in Windy Cove Cemetery, Millboro Springs. Bill’s sons and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon from 1:30 PM until the time of service at the church.
