William Peyton Farrell
William Peyton Farrell II, known and loved by the name Pat, died at Brookdale Roanoke Memory Care Center on July 30,2024.
He was born on June 20, 1948 in Hinton, WV to parents Mae and "Buddy" Farrell. He grew up a Bobcat and loved his hometown graduating in 1966 from Hinton high School. Pat then graduated from Marshall University and received his Masters degree at Murray State University. After graduation he moved to Rockford, Illinois and worked as vice president of Behr Iron and Metal. Later, he retired and moved to Roanoke, Virginia and became the roommate of his beloved nephew and best friend Tom Farrell, Jr. He rejoiced in his mountains and was happy returning to his roots.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Cristy Steirner Farrell, and. his older brothers Roger (Mickey) and Tom Farrell. He is survived by his loving wife Linda Haga Farrell, his daughter Kacie and son-in-law Lars Carlson who live in Mesa, AZ, his sister Ann and brother-in-law Kim Bowers of Hobe Sound, FL, several nieces and nephews, and his dog Oliver.
Pat loved to dance, explore the sky with his telescope, and travel with his wife Linda. A highlight for him was to visit Ireland and proudly tell everyone his name. He claimed he was a leprechaun, and we have never disproved his claim.
We thank Brookdale Roanoke Memory Center and Good Samaritan Hospice for their great care and kindness not only for Pat but also for Linda and Oliver.
A celebration of life for Pat will be held on August 24 at 11:00 AM at Northview Methodist Church at 521 Ridgecrest Dr., Roanoke, VA. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service. Everyone is invited to lunch after the service. In lieu of flowers donations to Angels of Assisi Animal Shelter at 415 Campbell Ave., SW Roanoke, VA or a charity of your choice in Pat's name would be appreciated.
We all hope our astronomer is up there checking on the moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn.
