William C. Powell, of Roanoke, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022. Bill was born on August 10, 1937 in Chicago to Clarence and Florence Powell who preceded him in death.
Bill worked at Standard Oil Company in Chicago, before moving to Roanoke, VA., in 1969 to work for N & W Railroad. He retired from the Railroad in 1993. He enjoyed playing golf and traveling with Lois.
Bill’s surviving family includes his wife, Lois Powell (they were married in 1963); two nephews, Scott (Laura) Freelove, of Castle Rock, CO. and Craig Freelove, and his daughter, Samantha, of Crown Point, IN.
