William Sterling Marilla

William Sterling Marilla Sr., 71, passed away on March 1, 2024. He was born in Danville, VA on May 25, 1952 to the late Billie Ann Shorter Marilla and the late William “Billy” Marilla. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mrs. Sharon Powell Marilla.

William was of the Christian faith, and worked for many years as a Shift Supervisor in the Textile industry previous to his retirement.

In addition to his wife, William is survived by two sons; William Marilla Jr. (Sheree) of Rocky Mount, VA and Eddie Marilla (Brandy) of Danville, VA; and eleven grandchildren; Charlotte, Trey, Faith, Grace, Caeleb, Samuel, Zachary, John, Hope, Malakai, and Micah.

In addition to his parents, William was predeceased by two brothers; Rick Marilla and Rodney Marilla.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Alzheimer’s Society of America at 322 8th Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 11:00 am at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024 from 6:30-8:00 pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA.
