William Tex Ramsey

William Tex Ramsey, Sr., 82, passed away on September 13, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born on September 22, 1939, in Bassett, Va. to the late James F. Ramsey and the late Naomi Ruth Watkins Ramsey. He was also preceded in death by his baby brother, Roosevelt Ramsey and brother, Jerry Robert Ramsey.
Mr. Ramsey retired from Fieldcrest Mills with 43 years of service.  He attended Fort Trial Baptist Church.
Tex is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Ann Brown Ramsey; four sons, William Tex Ramsey, Jr. (Pam), Charles Michael Ramsey (Jeanie), James Steven Ramsey (Denna) and Christopher Dale Ramsey (Beth). Sisters, Frances Allen, Becky Foley and Yvonne Martin (Donnie); four grandchildren, the joys of his life; Elyse Ramsey Bare (Brandon), Chelsea Ramsey Knight (Jeremy), William Tex Ramsey, III “Trey” and Logan Michael Ramsey; 3 great grandsons survive “Papa”, Jackson Bare, Parker Knight and Easton “Big E” Knight.  Papa always loved playing in the creek with his boys.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Tony Beach and the Rev. Noel Naff officiating.  Burial will follow at Henry Memorial Park.
