Dr. Willie Green, Sr. of Appomattox, Virginia
July 28, 1938 - January 12, 2024

Dr. Willie Green, Sr., 85, of Appomattox, died Friday, January 13, 2024, at his residence. He was the loving husband of the late Naomi Rufus Green.

Born in Charlotte County, VA, July 28, 1938, he was a son of the late CeCelia Madison and Linwood Green. Dr. Green was educated in the Charlotte County School System. After graduation, Willie entered the Army and served in both the Korean and Vietnam War. On June 21, 1976, Dr. Green received a degree from the Baltimore College of the Bible. He then entered the Gospel Ministry serving the Churches of St. Paul, Ever Ready, Landmark, White Oak Grove, Caanan, Shiloh Baptist, Galilee, and Open Door. He was currently attending Spears Mountain Baptist Church.

He is survived by six children, Patricia Lewis, Kandel Berry, Judy Jones, Terry Laughinghouse, William Smith, and Willie Green, Jr.; a granddaughter/daughter, Sandy Byrd; three brothers, John Greene, Steven Williams, and Frankie Williams; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Liberty Baptist Church, 1709 Church Street, Appomattox, VA. Burial will follow in Galilee Baptist Church Cemetery.
