Willie Hugh McCall
Willie H. McCall Jr. (Billy), 79, of Roanoke, Va., passed away in his home on Friday, January 10, 2025.
Willie was born on December 18, 1945, in Sontag, Va., to Rebecca and Willie Hugh McCall. Willie graduated Franklin County High School in 1964, then attended Virginia Tech as a member of the class of 1968. He went on to work for Appalachian Power Company where he worked for over 40 years. Willie married Linda Lynch of Rocky Mount, Va., and together they shared 55 years of marriage.
Willie was preceded in death by his father, Willie Hugh McCall Sr; mother, Rebecca Tyree McCall; and his precious granddaughter, Rowan Lee Price.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; their son, Ashley McCall; their daughter, Mandy McCall Price (Scott); his cherished granddaughter, Emory; and his beloved grand-dogs, Nalah and LowKey. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas Walter McCall (Leanne); sister, Cindy Cundiff (Barry); nephews, Keith Jamison and Jared Jamison (Jamie) and their children, Smith and Archer; and many other nieces and nephews.
Willie had many passions that enriched his life and the lives of those around him. He loved fishing, spending many days and nights out on Smith Mountain Lake with his fishing buddies catching stripers and sharing stories while casting. He loved the Hokies and was a loyal Cave Spring Knights Basketball fan. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his granddaughter, Emory, share his love of horses.
Willie’s love, really good hugs, funny sayings, and many stories will be deeply missed.
A period of visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem, Va. His Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, also in the chapel.
