Wilma Iris Hardison Doss
Wilma Iris Hardison Doss, 98, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Sovah Health – Martinsville. Born on December 28,1926, in Danville, Virginia, she was the daughter of Selma Iris Yeatts and Lloyd Durham Hardison III and spent much of her childhood with her loving aunt, Wilma Cochram, in Meadows of Dan, Virginia.
Iris found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished spending time fishing with her beloved spouse, nurturing her garden of flowers, and creating beautiful embroidery. Iris’ passions reflected a deep appreciation for nature and artistry, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
She is survived by her children; Wanda Slaughter (Tommy), Pam Nuckles (Mike), Susan Martin (CD); her six grandchildren, TJ Slaughter (Shelley), Andrea Robertson (Tim), Jason George (Kelly), Amy George, Scott Humphrey, Daniel Humphrey (Kayla); and her twelve great-grandchildren, and is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, Harry Wade Doss Jr; grandson, Thomas Humphrey; brothers, Lloyd Durham Hardison IV and Gene Cordell Hardison.
The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating Iris' life for a visitation on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, at Norris Funeral Services – Martinsville, followed by the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 AM with Pastor Tim Hylton officiating. The services will conclude with a Burial at Oakwood Cemetery.
Iris will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her; her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
