Wilson Edward Conway

Wilson Edward Conway, 85, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 2, 2025. He was born on August 26, 1939, to the late Sanford Biggs Conway and Virginia Dunman Conway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Charlotte Conway; his son, William Conway; an infant brother, John Lewis Conway; his older brother, Ewell Sanford “Pete” Conway; and a half-sister, Renee Conway.

Wilson spent many years on the road as a dedicated truck driver before retiring. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life—playing cards, trying his luck with the lottery, and tending to plants with the green thumb he developed from a lifelong love of biology. An outdoorsman at heart, Wilson especially cherished time spent with family and friends, making memories that will be treasured forever.

He is survived by his loving wife, Verdie Draper Conway; his son, Jeffry D. Conway; three stepdaughters, Dawn Mason (Jackie), Debbie Dillon (Gene), and Lisa Potter (Tim); three grandsons, Jacob Conway, Josh Whitlow, and Devin Hodges; five step-grandchildren; and his sister, Iris C. Horton. He is also remembered fondly by extended family and close friends.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 11:00AM at Roselawn Burial Park, with Pastor JD Walker officiating.
