Winford "Rg" Davis

Rev. Winford “RG” Davis, 89, of Mount Airy, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, May 28, 2023 in Mount Airy, NC. Rev. Davis was born in Carroll County, Virginia on March 21, 1934, to the late Albert Johnathan and Sarah Charity Edwards Davis. He was self-employed in the floor covering business and a dye operator at Renfro Hosiery Mill. He was a longtime faithful member and Pastor of Maranatha Baptist Church for 37 years. Rev. Davis proudly served our country in the United States Army. He fought a good fight, he finished his course and kept the faith. II Tim. 4:7. He loved people and was always willing to share with them his testimony and the gospel of Jesus Christ his Lord. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-in-law, Cathy and Steve Childress; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Debbie Davis and Randy and Renee Davis; 4 grandchildren, Tim and Tonya Childress, Kristi and Dustin Strickland, Wendy and Dylan Mills and Dusti and Robert Gardner; 6 great grandchildren, Kyle Childress, Hunter Childress, Madelyn Strickland, Kayee Strickland, Corbin Mills and Ellie Mills; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Rev. Davis was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Betty Louise Morris Davis; six brothers and four sisters. A funeral service will be held Friday, June 2, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Watson and the Rev. Elmo Hiatt officiating. Burial will follow in Shockley Cemetery in Hillsville with full military honors conducted by VFW Post 1115 of Hillsville, VA. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
