Winston "Pete" Tyree Jones

Winston “Pete” Tyree Jones, 81 years old, born May 28, 1945 in Franklin County, VA passed away on July 24, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents Willy “Guy” Jones and Josephine Holland Jones. He is also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Leigh Moore Jones (that he loved dearly for 62 years); his sisters Elsie Lorene Jones, Martha Jewell Jones, Hazel Taylor Jones, Joyce Zeigler, Barbara Gayle Jones and his brothers, Charles Joseph Jones, Wilford Jones and Larry Wayne Jones. Surviving are his daughters Carla Jones Cooper, Bridget Jones Spangler (Charles) and his beloved dog Honey Bee; brother James O. Jones; grandchildren William Justin Cooper (Lex), Levi Jackson Cooper and Megan Elizabeth Mitchell; great-grandson, Noah LeDuc; a special sister-in-law, Linda Law Jones and several nieces and nephews. Winston grew up on a tobacco farm in Franklin County, owned and operated a trucking business with his devoted wife and after retirement they had bought a farm where they raised beef cattle. They were the most happiest while working on the farm, gardening, cutting wood, or simply riding their gator to the river or checking on the cows. You never seen one without the other. Family and Faith was of utmost importance. Winston was a very devoted husband and father. He always took care of his family. There was very little he couldn’t fix, no matter how big or small. Family time together was very important, especially to share a meal. He never met a stranger and was more than willing to help someone in need. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday from Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel with Pastors Doug Hayes and Dwight Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. His family will be receiving friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 62 Virginia Market Place Dr., Rocky Mount.
