Wynona "Nonie" Corvin Clinevell
Wynona “Nonie” Corvin Clinevell, 79, gained her angel wings on July 15th, 2023 during her dialysis treatment in Salem, Virginia. She went to be with the Lord peacefully in her sleep.
Nonie's life would seem too short to many, but those of us who were blessed to be touched by her understand that her existence and the imprint she left on our hearts exceed the quantity of time that she stayed here. She was born and raised in Southeast Roanoke and attended Jefferson High School where she was a proud Magicianette. Nonie was a talented dancer, starring on Saturday Sessions and Top 10 Dance Party, popular television programs in 1959. We know she is now dancing in Heaven. She prided herself for her employment at Double Envelope, as well as her roles at Salem City and Roanoke County schools during the later parts of her life. She was loved by all the students and made sure to get to know each and every one of them. When Nonie wasn't working, she could be found playing board games around her dining room table with her family. Not a day went by where Nonie didn't talk about how much her family meant to her -- her family was arguably her most important achievement in life.
Nonie is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Ronald Clinevell; her sister, Dolores Lancaster; her children, Kelly Clinevell (Christy), Dana Clinevell, Chad Clinevell (Erin); her grandchildren, Casey Clinevell, Lauren Smith (Kurt), Sidney Stanger (Chris), Tori Clinevell, Connor Clinevell, and Collin Clinevell; her great grandchildren, Ainsley Smith, Stella Smith, and Isla Stanger; and countless friends. Nonie was preceded in death by her parents John and Helen Corvin; her sisters, Carol East and June Corvin; and her special great nephew Brandon Marshall.
Services will be held at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem, Virginia on Thursday July 20, 2023. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until Noon with the funeral service and reception to follow. The burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to The Wounded Warrior Project, an organization Nonie cared for and regularly donated to.
