Zelda Lee Hylton Brubaker
Zelda Lee Hylton Brubaker of Rocky Mount, Virginia died Wednesday, July 8, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin Harrison Hylton and Bertha Ferrell Hylton. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Riley Emory Brubaker; son, Darrell Wayne Brubaker; parents; three brothers and two sisters, Garland, Benjamin Jr., Aubry Benton (an infant eight months of age), Bee Huffman Harvey and Dorothy Helmandollar. Surviving are her children, Stephen Emory Brubaker (Jackie) of Rocky Mount, Virginia and Lori Diane Brubaker Law (Gary) of Chandler, Arizona; grandchildren, Keely Law Colvin (Derin) of Gilbert, Arizona, Ashley Brubaker Grice (Josh) of Boones Mill, Virginia, Riley Stephen Brubaker (Kaitlin) of Roanoke, Virginia, Tyler Hampton Brubaker (Kristen) of Boones Mill, Virginia, and Parker Stevinson Law (Ashley) of Chatham, New Jersey; great-grandchildren, Jagger Levi Colvin and Crew Asher Colvin of Gilbert, Arizona, Emory Mae Grice and Ida Harwell Grice of Boones Mill, Virginia, Nora Grace Brubaker and Emma Kate Brubaker of Roanoke, Virginia, Lincoln Stevinson Law and Lucy Kay Law of Chatham, New Jersey, and Meredith Paige Brubaker and Miles Everett Brubaker of Boones Mill, Virginia; a very special friend and like a daughter, Betty Glynne Bowman Thurman; a very special friend and caregiver, Vanessa Bowman; a very special niece, Judy Irvin; a very special great-nephew, Benjamin Irvin (Alison); special great-great-niece, Edith; and many other special family members and friends. Zelda was a former member of Graham Christian Church in Bluefield, Virginia and a current member of the Antioch Church of the Brethren in Rocky Mount, Virginia. The family plans to have a memorial at a later date in her honor. In lieu of flowers and food, the family requests donations be made to the World Hunger Auction in care of Antioch Church of the Brethren, 2996 Callaway Road, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151-7213.
