Rico Thadeaus Scales

Rico Thadeaus Scales, 34, of Spencer, Virginia passed away Friday, November 5, 2021, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. He was born March 30, 1987, in Martinsville, Virginia to Sharon Copening Scales, and the late James Junior Scales. He attended Gethsemane Pentecostal Holiness Church and Magna Vista High School where he later received his GED. He loved to DJ, fishing, four wheeling and spending time with his children.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lovey and America Scales and Harold Copening.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by daughters, Alexia Odberg, Layla Scales and Jayna Hagwood; sons, Lyric Whisenton and Raquish Marshall; sisters, Jolethe Copening and Latoyal Hairston; brothers, Junior “B. J.” Scales, James D. Scales and

De’Angelo Waller.

The funeral will be Friday, November 12, 2021, at 11:00 A. M. at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Bishop Warren officiating. A floating visitation will be Thursday, November 11, 2021, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow at Thomas Family Cemetery, Critz, Virginia.
