Ephonia Johnson Tatum

Ephonia Johnson Tatum, 84, of Spencer, Virginia passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021, at her home. She was born September 24, 1937, in Henry County, Virginia to the late Annie Jane Johnson. She was a “Church Mother” at Trinity Church of the Living God, where she was also a choir member. She had worked at Stanley Furniture for over twenty years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Ava Redd, and step-father, Roosevelt Penn.

She is survived by her husband, James Millard Tatum; daughters, Cheryl Simmons, Bonnie Tatum, Beverly Tatum and Brenda Redd (Lamark); sons, Caesar Tatum (Mary) and James B. Tatum (Monika); brother, Franklin Penn; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

A funeral will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at 1:00 P. M. at Trinity Church of the Living God. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
