Barbara Martin Redd

Barbara Martin Redd, 81, of Spencer, Virginia passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021. She was born July 14, 1940, in Fieldale, Virginia to the late John Nick Martin and Mariah Spencer Martin. She retired from Fieldcrest Mills. She loved to cook, sing, grow flowers, go to church and raise her children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Lewis Redd; sisters, Shirley Hairston and Helen George; brother, Nick Martin, Jr.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Jimmie Lester Redd, Sr.; daughters, Gloria Hairston, Della Seay (James), Dawn Keen (Elder Rodney Keen), Vivian Diane Penn and Sharon Hairston (Gary); sons, Elder Jimmie Redd, Jr. (Norma) and Timothy Redd (Hope); sister, Eliza Mae Taylor; brother, Willie C. Martin (Rosie); fourteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held Friday, December 3, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Red Hollow Primitive Baptist Church, Spencer, Virginia. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the church.
