Carol Overstreet

Carol Overstreet, 77, of Bedford, passed away February 5, 2022. She passed peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with dementia/alzheimers. She was born on November 24, 1944 in Bedford, VA to Daniel Alexander Overstreet and Anna Lee Noland Overstreet. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Howard Detamore. She worked for the Veterans Administration in Vineland, NJ and had a true passion for that position. She then worked for Carillion Cancer Unit in Roanoke, VA. She is survived by her two daughters, Michele Rae Detamore, Mitzi Kay Detamore; five grandchildren, Kenneth Troy Ray McCandless, Brandie Michele McCandless, Corie Ann McCandless, Tiffany Sharpe and Misty Nicole Overstreet; and two-great grandsons, Aiden Cole McCandless and Camden Troy McCandless. There will not be a service, she is to be cremated with ashes spread at Overstreet Family Cemetery on Taylors Mountain, Bedford VA. Arrangements by Burch-Messier Funeral Home, Bedford, 540-586-7360.
