Grady Virgil Young, Sr.

Grady Virgil Young, Sr., 84, of Spencer, Virginia passed away Monday, March 13, 2023, at his home. He was born March 3, 1939 in Bassett, Virginia to the late Grady Vanderbelt Young and Stella Sloan Young. He proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard and attended Grassy Creek Baptist Church and Kingdom Point. Grady worked for Dupont for over 32 years. He loved sports, especially golf, Duke basketball and Washington Redskins football.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Narvie Young; and brothers, Roger Young and Gary Young.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Lovelace Young; daughter, Sherry Jean Hundley; son, Grady V. Young, Jr.; sisters, Ivy Jean Howard, Glenna Settle, Linda Hughes, Becky Widner; brother, Denny Young; grandchildren, Angelica Tuttle, Amanda Alcorn and Bryanna Young; and great-grandchildren, Triton Alcorn, Kingston Alcorn, Addilynn Dillon and Kaisley Dillon.

A funeral will be held Friday, March 17, 2023, at 1:00 P. M. at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Pastors David Bryant and Marty Hundley officiating. Burial will follow at Fair Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
