Julie Etta Sexton

Julie Elswick Sexton, age 60, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at her home in Vinton, Va. Julie was a strong woman and will always be remembered as a loving wife, sister, step-mother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Julie was born in Smyth County to the late Robert “Bob” Elswick and Dorothy Elswick and is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary Paul Sexton; sisters, Teresa Little and Debra Keyes along with a special brother-in-law, Michael Blevins.Survivors include step-daughter and son-in-law, Cary Beth and Brandon Gillespie; two step-grandchildren, Mason and Lincoln Gillespie; nephew, Josh Blevins, Jesse Blevins, his girlfriend, Stacey Burton, and Noah Keyes; several great nieces and nephews; special family members, Cindy Cox, Susan Abad and Keri Hall, as well as special friend Jim Cornick.There will be a private ceremony for the family. A celebration of life for family and friends to be announced at a later date.
